Wardrobe Staples You Need in Your Closet

/ Why not Leave a Comment? ♥

Do you have a closet full of clothes, but you find yourself always saying, "I have nothing to wear"? Yeah, you sound like me. More than likely your problem is you don't have the important stuff in your closet. Don't worry, I have a easy guide on how to get rid of the unnecessary things that you don't wear, and replace them with pieces in your closet that you're going to wear over and over.

s t e p o n e :

Closet Sweep!
Okay we're about to go through you're e n t i r e closet. Get 3 bins and label them.

1. Keep It: Self explanatory, these are the pieces you're going to hold on to. They fit, and you can wear these pieces over and over again.

2. Donate: The stuff that will go in this bin are things like that skirt you know you cannot squeeze in even if your life depended on it. Or that dress you bought two summers ago and you haven't wore it, not once. Pieces that are wasting space and you cannot fit will go into this been. Remember: One woman's trash is another woman's treasure :)

3. Trash: These are the "no-no" pieces. That white tank with the deodorant stains that won't go away, shoes that are falling apart. The bag with the fringes that are falling off. Yeah, stuff like that.

s t e p t w o :

Evaluate & Shop!
Now that we have the items that we're going to keep in your closet, let's see what we do and do not have. On to the STAPLES! Check off the things you do have, so you know what to shop for. When you do end up purchasing the items, check them off as you go.

Remember, you don't have to go nuts and get all these things at once (but, if you got it, then by all means, do your thing honey). But these are the pieces you will find yourself wearing over and over again. Mix and match them. Once you have all these pieces, then you can start building off of it and add unique and fun pieces to your closet. I hope you found this helpful :)

10 Scriptures to Help You Get Through A Bad Week

/ Why not Leave a Comment? ♥

I'm not going to front, it's hard being a mom. I love it, but it's hard. I've barely been getting any sleep, I've been looking for another job, laundry is piling back up,  trying to get a few blog posts in while taking care of the baby.  Am I the only one that feels like things have been super hard? I feel so overwhelmed and drained.

This has been one of those weeks when I just felt like going off on everyone around me and breaking down and crying. But, I can't. I have to be a strong mama. My strength comes from God, and I definitely can't get through the day without Him.

I've learned that even when things are super hard and things don't seem like they will get better anytime soon, you still have to have faith and I've come up with some scriptures that have inspired and motivated me to keep going and be all that I can be.

So get out a pen and paper or  some note cards, place these scriptures in a place where you will see them everyday. Like your bathroom mirror, your desk at work, a place where you can have them on hand to battle negative thoughts that come against you.

Let's fight the good fight of faith!

Proverbs 3:5-6 " Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all your ways, and he will make your paths straight."

Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving tell your requests to God. And the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 5:6-7 "And God will exalt you in due time, if you humble yourselves under his mighty hand by casting all your cares on him because he cares for you."

John 16:33 "I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble and suffering, but take courage-- I have conquered the world."

Isaiah 40:31 "But those who wait for the Lord's help find renewed strength; they rise up as if they had eagles' wings, they run without growing weary, they walk without getting tired."

James 1:2-3 "My brothers and sisters, consider it nothing but joy when you fall into all sorts of trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance."

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage."

Psalm 56:3-4 "When I am afraid, I trust in you. In God -- I boast in his promise -- in God I trust, I am not afraid. What can mere men do to me?"

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 " Always rejoice, constantly pray, in everything give thanks. For this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:13 "I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me."

I pray that there are better days for all my Stylettes, and that you find the strength everyday to keep pushing. You can do this.

Have some scriptures that I'm missing? Comment them below! Let's encourage each other.

Fashion LA Awards 2015

/ Why not Leave a Comment? ♥
The Daily Front held it's very first Fashion LA Awards last night at Sunset Tower in West Hollywood, California. The guest list was pretty amazing too. Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Katy Perry, Ciara, Drew Barrymore, Kerry Washington, Nicole Richie, Gigi Hadid, and Rihanna accompanied Jeremy Scott.
Honoring Jeremy Scott as Designer of the Year, Gigi Hadrid as Model of the Year, and Milk Studios' Mazdack Rassi as Fashion Innovator of the Year, everyone was dressed to impress.
And of course, I spied with my little fashion eye, a lot of Moschino.

Rihanna showed her support for her friend Jeremy by coordinating outfits, cute right?

Miley gave a speech honoring Jeremy Scott as designer of the year, and wore one of my favorite dresses from Moschino's  S/S '15 Collection. For her intro, she said, "“When I do wear clothes, and don’t have my titties out… you can thank Jeremy Scott for that...”

Fashion friends: The Wrecking Ball singer showed her support of Moschino's Jeremy Scott by cuddling up to him in one of his slogan T-shirts
Goofing around: Party animal Miley had fun hanging out with Katy during the evening

Fashion God, Kanye West, presented Rassi with his award and gave an interesting intro. "Everyone is a fashion insider, it's illegal to be naked."

Here are more stars and fashion from The Fashion LA Awards 2015.

The DAILY FRONT ROW Fashion Los Angeles Awards
Kerry Washington: Black white and grey look, with black pumps. Some said this look was "fashionable" enough for the occasion, but I think it was cute and very Kerry.

Gigi Hadid: Model of the Year, kept it simple with a coral one-shoulder Calvin Klein fitted dress with minimal accessories.

Minka Kelly: The actress wore Herve Leger multicoloured textural flared frock with studded details. I'm not a big fan of this look, it's not doing much for her.

The DAILY FRONT ROW Fashion Los Angeles Awards 2

Drew Barrymore: The actress, who was the host on the night, wore a Zara short-sleeve top with an eye-catching painterly Milly print skirt styled with a silver glitter Dior clutch and gold glitter shoes.

Dita Von Teese: Wore a rich red brocade Dolce & Gabbana mini dress with the brand’s signature woodland theme embroidered on the skirt. Loving the red accessories and lippie!

Katy Perry: One of my favorite singers wore a bubblegum pink Moschino 'fit with a fur shawl, biker Moschino clutch and Adidas flip flops. I'm not too sure about those flip flops Katy...

Coordinated: Katy wore an outfit that matched Nicole Richie's hair at the fashion bashCoordinated: Katy wore an outfit that matched Nicole Richie's hair at the fashion bash

Nicole and Katy should swap hair colors. But anyway...

Nicole Richie  : Debuting a bubblegum-pink hairdo, the designer wore a black leather braided Alfredo Villalba Fall 2014 dress styled with black pumps and Kwiat jewels. I personally love her lavender locks way more than this pink.

What do you guys think about these looks?

Yes, last night everyone's focus was on the President of the United States. But, if you're a fashionista like me, you were checking out what Mrs. Michelle Obama was wearing. She always looks so classy and timeless. Last night she looked absolutely gorgeous in a Michael Kors Fall 2013 Origami tweed Black and White Zip Front Jacket and skirt. I love that her look is much more toned down than the runway look, and she turned the skirt around to conceal the zipper. The look was form fitting yet sophisticated. I absolutely loved it on her! What are your thoughts? Do you love it or could do without it? Comment below!

Nasty Gal News

/ Why not Leave a Comment? ♥
img_080
Guess what I heard? The infamous "#GirlBoss", Sophia Amoruso is stepping down as CEO of Nasty Gal. She started Nasty Gal as an Ebay vintage store and it has turned into a multimillion dollar business. She has already admitted that she had no real experience to run a company. And I'm sure when she started on Ebay, she had no clue Nasty Gal would turn out to be so successful. She made the announcement on Nasty Gal's vlog saying that she has been debating whether or not the role of CEO is "the job that I want or the job that I'm best at. She has now appointed Sheree Waterson as CEO after hiring her only a year ago.
It just sounds to me that Sheree has more experience and is more capable of running this multimillion dollar company. And I applaud Sophia for making this decision, instead of trying to take on a job that she knows she cannot handle, she is woman enough to hand off a company she has built from the ground up to someone who can handle it and will make Nasty Gal grow even more.
But don't get it twisted, she isn't disappearing from Nasty Gal forever! Sophia will still be part of the executive board of Nasty Gal. “While I find myself really capable of leading our customer,” Amoruso told Re/Code, “… the company need[s] a CEO with operational expertise and the ability to take Nasty Gal to the next level of maturity.”

MTOTW: Packing Your Diaper Bag

/ Why not Leave a Comment? ♥

I know for sure that mornings can be pretty hectic with a baby. You're already exhausted from sleep deprivation. Your LO is is either fussy, or like Tristan, much more excited and pumped up than you are in the morning. And I'm sure you're battling to keep your eyes open all at the same time.

When you need to be somewhere on time, it really helps to get most of your baby prep out the way at night. Get your shower done, bathe your baby ( read my last Mommy Tip of the Week, it's usually lights out after that), get both of your outfits out as well. This saves about hour of getting ready in the morning. Also, P A C K YO U R D I A P E R  B A G

When you rush in the morning, it's super hard to get your diaper bag prepared because something will slip your mind, this has happened to me about fifty billion times until I finally realized that I needed to do these things ahead of time. Here are my essentials and tips for diaper bag packing :) (Seen in picture).

1. Make sure all bottles are cleaned and packed

2. Pack two extra outfits, socks too ( just in case of a blowout)

3. Make sure you have all your LO's favorite toys ( teething rings, books, etc.) Babies have a short attention span and will get very cranky if they're bored.

4. Don't overpack your bag. Your shoulders will thank me later. Pack a separate bag for your bottles, baby food, and formula.

5. Put formula in a little container to save space.

6. Burping cloths, at least two. One for spit up, one for boogies.

7. Mini toiletries. You don't know what can happen when your out with your baby, they may need a little washing up if they end up messing up their clothes. So try to pack little travel bottles of baby wash and lotion.

8.  Changing pad, and in that changing pad:  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH WIPES, and a tube of A&D.

9.  Bibs, you'll definitely need those.

10. Plentyyyyy of diapers!

When my mom was helping me with all this a few months backs, I just looked at her like, "You are doing wayyy too much. It is not that serious." But, it is. It really is. I found myself unprepared so many times, so I guess you can say I learned my momma's lesson the hard way, haha. Packing Tristan's bag at night saves me a ton of time in the morning, so all I have to do is wash him up, get myself together, put his clothes on, grab his bag and we're out the door. And from one momma to another, planning ahead is the cure to "mommy brain."

Mommy Tip of the Week : Catching some Zzzs

/ Why not Leave a Comment? ♥
If you're a new mom, or a mom to be you already know about those sleepless nights. Either your belly is making your super uncomfortable while you try to sleep at night, your little one is kicking you in the wee hours of the morning, or your pumpkin thinks it's playtime and not sleepy time at 3am. Yeah... no.
If your a mom to be, a maternity pillow will definitely make the difference. I needed at LEAST six pillows to make me comfy while I was pregnant ( high maintenance preggo lady) You can find them at Walmart or Target, ranging from $25- $45.
If you're a new mom, like me, the best thing to do is establish a routine with your baby. Usually I put Tristan down for some tummy and play time between 5pm and 6pm , feed him around 7 pm, give him a bath, read a story, say our prayers and usually after 30 minutes, it's lights out.I know it's hard in the beginning to establish a routine with your baby, but, don't worry or stress out. It will get better.

Boyfriend Jeans

You know, I'm kind of sick of seeing skinny jeans. I mean don't get me wrong, I love how they hug your body in all the right places. But, HELLO PEOPLE! There are other styles of jeans out there. My personal favorite is the boyfriend jean. It took me forever to find the perfect pair of boyfriend jeans, but I found my babies at The Rack in Towson for only $20. Boyfriend jeans are super versatile and super comfy! Usually I pair mine with a tee and either chunky booties or pumps. I love me a pair of distressed bf jeans. Make them preppy or make them edgy, totally up to you! If you haven't tried them yet, give your skinnies a break and boyfriend jeans a go! Trust me, you'll love them and they still can make your booty look great ;).

Happy 2015!

/ Why not Leave a Comment? ♥

I always feel like January is sad and cold and depressing, this reminds me that it can be beautiful too, you just have to look for it.

Hi Stylettes, I'm so glad to be back! I'm on a new platform (Blogger), have my own domain, and I'm really trying a different approach with my blog. Oh, and  Happy New Year! This means new possibilities, new opportunities, and more blessings coming your way. Every year I try to make a new years resolution, not to fit in with the "new year, new me" crowd but, because I genuinely want to improve myself and become a better woman and mother. Here are a few of my 2015 resolutions.
  • No More Procrastinating: I have always had issues with procrastination. I'd make a goal, say I'd really get to it, keep putting it off, and I'd never get it done. But not anymore. I bought a planner so I can keep track of my goals and deadlines and really get things done.
  • Take Care of Yourself: I am so lazy when it comes to exercise and going to the gym. I'll do it for a couple of days, and you won't see me no where near a treadmill or a gym for a few months. It's a shame, I know. But this year, I'm definitely going to take better care of my body. Not only for me, but so I can keep up with my baby boy! This means eating healthier (not dieting), working out more, and keeping my stress levels down (that can add on weight too).
  • Get Closer to God: I'm realizing that I have been inconsistent with my relationship with God and this is affecting my true happiness with life. A little bit prior to me getting pregnant, I barely went to church (which is so unlike me), and ended up going into a deep depression. I had thoughts of hurting myself and ending my life. Thank God that's over. Now, I'm going to stay in the Word, go to church every week, and pray more. And most importantly, keep God first in my life.
  • Make Your Dreams Come True: I don't know about you, but, I'm tired of sitting back and watching everybody else dreams come true. It's my time and yours. Do the things you've always wanted to! No more should've, could've, would'ves. JUST DO IT. Start the business you've always had your mind on, go back to school and get that degree.  No more excuses, really make this year count.
What are your new years resolutions? Comment below! I want to know. Let's make this year the year our dreams comes true. Make goals, plan accordingly so you can reach those goals. Don't make any excuses. Don't let anything hold you back.
Happy New Year | Have an amazing year!
