Spring Nails 2015

Okay, it's officially spring and temperatures are turning up a bit. Spring is a great time to try new things. Even the little things, like your nails! Hello?!?! New colors, new shapes. I used to love having sexy claws but, being a mom now... yeah... not going to work.

Almond shaped nails are a great combination between oval and claw shaped nails. Here's a collection of nails that I absolutely love and so excited to try. You should too. Print this out, take it to your nail shop, and tell them to make some magic :).

Fashion Making a Difference: She Makes It

I love how fashion can change the world. Piece & Co. has collaborated with Nordstrom and 8 amazing brands that you know and love to bring you She Makes It. She Makes It is a collection of spring fashion handcrafted with love by artisans in developing countries and designed by some of the biggest names in fashion.

Brands that Piece & Co. has worked with include DVF, Alice and Olivia, Rebecca Minkoff, J.Crew, theory, Tory Burch, Crate & Barrel, and Nordstrom.

She makes it. Piece & Co. and Nordstrom bring together global artisans and world-class designers.

"Ending global poverty starts with women. Research shows when you invest in a woman, you invest in her family and community, too. On average, women invest 90 percent of their income back into their families. This includes putting healthy food on the table, paying for their children to go school, or buying healthcare. And our artisans are no different. When we employ one artisan woman, we impact many.
We estimate that an average one order from a brand can employ between 75 and 100 artisans for two to three months. This, in turn, impacts the lives of 300 to 400 people, from children to community members."

Some of the countries that Piece & Co. works in include:
  • Argentina
  • Bolivia
  • Kenya
  • Nepal
  • Bangladesh
  • Ecuador
  • Guatemala
  • Ghana
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Laos
  • Mexico
  • Peru
  • Thailand
  • Vietnam
  • Zambia
Kathleen Wright launched Piece & Co. in 2011 while working for an artisan-focused nonprofit. She realized sustainable employment was the only way to bring these women out of poverty. She made it her mission to build a marketplace for artisan products. She discovered that brands were looking for authentic alternatives to factory-produced fabrics and accessories. Piece & Co. is helping artisan women support their families and realizing their dreams.

How's everyone's morning going???
Well, so far, I have the case of the sniffles, a baby that loves to wake Mommy up 3-4 times through the night and wake up extra early in the mornings.
Hmm, let's see... my plans to go to Free Pancake day have been destroyed and thrown out the window (I was really looking forward to those pancakes).
I burned my hand fixing coffee. Now I'm just sitting here trying to think of something productive to do for the remainder of my day. Yeah, the life of a stay at home mom.

I don't know how much longer I can do this. No, not the being a mom part but the "stay at home" part of that title.
Don't get me wrong, I loveeee my baby boy. He's the best thing that has ever happened to me. But there's something about getting up everyday and doing the same routine, going to sleep and doing it all over again that's a little depressing.
I need a little bit more purpose in my life.

Another thing, Tristan will be seven months in three days. SEVEN MONTHS! Where did the time go? Now he's throwing tantrums, he just started crawling, he's outgrowing all his clothes, and I can't get a whole paragraph in without him getting into something--- like now. Remember when your baby used to just sit there and stare at you, observing the world around them. Ha, I don't remember the last time I had a moment to myself let alone time to sit and ponder about the world around me.

People tell me I should really cherish these moments with my baby. And I am, but, you people forgot to tell me a little something when I passed out those advice cards at my baby shower. Mommy life is bittersweet. As a new mom, I'm learning as I go. I don't know if I'm being too hard on my pumpkin if he does something wrong and I tell him no. Does he really know what he's doing? He's only six going on seven months. But yeah, he does, haha. Tantrums, hitting back, cussing me out in his baby language... he knows.

But when I see him laugh and smile I know this life is worth it.

Nobody ever said being a mom was easy, being a woman is hard enough.

But, like I said, it's all worth it.

Spring 2015 : What's Trending? (Part 1)

/ Why not Leave a Comment? ♥

Happy March 1st! Spring is quickly approaching us, and I know I cannot wait because I am so tired of this cold bipolar weather. Spring not only brings us warmer weather, flowers, and leaves back on the trees but, it brings us a fresh new start for our wardrobe.

New trends gives us a chance to try new looks and experiment with our personal style. I have for you this year's spring trends. Give them a try, personalize it, have fun with it!

This is not for your picnic table, the gingham print gives a spring/summery freshness to your wardrobe. Versus a preppy plaid which was a trend for fall '14.

I feel as though a jumpsuit is one of the sexiest things you can have in your closet. With the right fit, you can definitely own this look. Pair it with a blazer and pumps and head to the office, or wear a backless jumpsuit with open toe heels and you're ready for a night out!
Apparently the 70s are back and has taken over the runways for spring. Designers like Emilio Pucci, Chloe, Roberto Cavali, and Gucci have turned old "groovy" trends into hippie chic beautiful designs. If you're into boho chic styles but haven't really tried them like I am, then this is the time to do so.

White lace is such a nice sexy-sweet combination. The delicacy of the lace and the sheerness give it an edge while keeping it pretty and fresh.

It's the "Return of the Culottes". This trend from last spring is back. Wear it to work with a button down top or wear it for a day out with a girls with a cropped top and high heels.

I love this trend so much and I cannot wait to try it. High slits, double slits, belted, drop waist and A-line shapes. You have have so much fun with this trend. Plus, it's a great transition piece, wear a white shirt dress to work with a blazer or cardigan and switch it up at night with a clutch and a pair of heels and you're ready for a night out.

Stay tuned for Part Two of Spring 2015 Trends as we approach Spring and a fresh new wardrobe.

~XOXO TORI B.~
